I often get the question, what is the difference between granulated and powdered spices? The answer is actually very simple; texture. We prefer granulated spices, like onion and garlic, because they are easier to work with. Garlic and Onion powders are, well, powdery. They go everywhere when you are trying to bottle and cook with them, they clump easier due to their texture and we find granulated to distribute more evenly in our dishes. But there are many traditionalists out there that will tell you they each have their own application.
We say, you do you! And we prefer granulated! This onion is from California and is perfect to use where you want onion FLAVOR but not necessarily actual pieces of onion.

Not all granulated onion is the same. This has a fresh onion flavor and I think is by far the best I have ever purchased.

This is an update to my previous review. I was making a family favorite recipe yesterday and I ran out of California Granulated Onion, so my husband got me some onion powder from our local store. I didn’t think there would be a big difference in the taste…boy was I wrong! My recipe did taste a little different. I have learned a valuable lesson, order California Granulated Onion every time I place an order!
